THE DATA REVOLUTION

IS HERE.

NOW

WE JUST NEED TO

TEACH IT.

<

This site

is a growing

collection of resources, organizations, and people working to make data science, stats, and modelling

a part of K-12.

(a Beta, if you will)
So what needs to change?

The math we teach needs an update.

The math we require in our K-12 education system is out of sync with our everyday technology.

The Algebra I-Geometry-Algebra II sequence, often referred to as the "geometry sandwich," was originally created to prepare our students for the Space Race in the 1950s.

Some things have changed since then.

90%

of all the world's data was created in the last two years

1000x

computing power in an iPhone vs. a 1970s mainframe computer

11%

of all U.S. high school students  complete any statistics coursework

And a lot of people are writing about it:

And talking about it:

And implementing it:

Oregon
California
Ohio

Covid-19

DATA LITERACY

We should be

teaching math as if

computers existed.
